A Milledgeville native, Walker comes to the Centre from the Intercontinental Hotel Buckhead, where he served in several capacities including Banquet Chef and Sous Chef. Walker brings a chef-driven concept to the Centre. “I want to wow people every time they step in the door,” he said. “I want them to leave saying, ‘I can’t believe that was convention center food.’” Walker is a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta’s Culinary Arts Management program as well as Georgia Military College, where he received an Associate Degree in Business. He also teaches culinary students at the Art Institute. Walker worked full time through college at various restaurants, and he has worked in almost every kitchen setting since including country clubs, resorts, restaurants, hotels and off-premise catering. “I’ve always been in a kitchen,” he said. Walker’s culinary style reflects many different influences, including Italian, French, Chinese, Indian and Kosher. “Those influences and flavor profiles all blend together,” he said. “I’ve worked with a lot of different chefs, and I’ve taken something from each of those experiences.” Walker and his wife, Kathleen, live in Decatur, and in his spare time he enjoys reading, playing the guitar, cooking at home and gardening. |
