Event Spotlight: A5 Volleyball

Close to 2,500 youth athletes from across the Southeast converged on the Cobb Galleria Centre Feb. 5-6 for the Beast of the Southeast youth volleyball tournament, presented by A5 Volleyball Club.

The tournament, established in 2010, brings the top girls and boys volleyball clubs from around the Southeastern United States to the Atlanta area for a competition featuring 24 volleyball courts in the Centre’s exhibit halls and 222 teams. The Beast of the Southeast has grown in size since its inception and continues to be one of the most sought-after tournaments in the Southeast.

More than half of the teams come from outside of the Atlanta area and require hotel accommodations. More than 2,000 hotel room nights were utilized in the community.

Steve Wilcosky of A5 Volleyball said that the group had a positive experience at the Centre and will return in 2023. “The Cobb Galleria provides a great and comfortable space for 24 volleyball courts. The accessibility, general area, and space were the main contributors in securing the Cobb Galleria. We are returning in 2023 for the same reasons as well as the opportunity to continue to build a strong partnership with the CSA and Cobb County tourism. We feel our event has the opportunity to continue to grow, and we would like to do that with the great folks of Cobb County.”

A5 Volleyball prides itself on raising the level of sport through core values and teaching life lessons through the sport of volleyball.
