With a personality made for sales, it’s hard to believe that longtime Cobb Galleria Centre and Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre National Sales Manager Marion Welsh could have spent her career in the courtroom. Once considering a career as an attorney to follow in her father’s footsteps (her dream job would have been to work with former Secretary of State Madeline Albright), Marion instead pursued hospitality sales and has never looked back.

Marion recently celebrated 26 years with the Centre, and she credits the company culture with her longevity. “I’m fortunate that I was included in developing the culture of the Centre from the start of my employment,” she said. “Also, the accessibility of excellent mentors – and I think they know who they are – who believed in my abilities and provided me with a secure place to continue my professional development.”

As National Sales Manager, Marion primarily sells exhibition hall events and manages existing accounts. She works collaboratively with Cobb Travel & Tourism, Discover Atlanta and Cobb County hospitality partners to secure new business opportunities. Prior to working at the Cobb Galleria Centre, Marion worked in luxury hotel sales and marketing.

Marion says that the best parts of her job are her colleagues and clients. “Every day provides me with a memorable event,” she said. “Each day brings a new person to meet, new business opportunities to explore, and new challenges to enhance my job satisfaction and personal experience.”

Marion is a native of Shreveport, La., and she has a bachelor’s degree from Loyola (New Orleans) University. She lives in Smyrna and in her free time enjoys connecting with family, good friends, cooking, reading, traveling and exploring. She is also a self-described “Italophile,” who loves the history, food, culture, language and incomparable beauty of Italy!
