New this year will be a three-day special appearance by author and former editor of Builder magazine, Boyce Thompson (boycethompsonmedia.com).  Thompson will bring his “Top 10 New Life-Changing Home Products” Showcase to the Fall Atlanta Home Show and will demonstrate them to attendees throughout the event.  Among the innovative products Thompson will feature are paints that prevent disease, countertops that recharge electronics and a 3D Printer that can print an entire house. A popular speaker and journalist with over 30 years of working with magazines covering housing and residential building, Thompson is the author of The New New Home.  As well as interacting with attendees from his exhibit, Thompson will speak from the Reliable Heating & Air Home Show Stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Additional speakers include Lifestyles Expert Kelly Edwards presented by State Farm Insurance, HGTV’s Joe Washington and the Georgia Gardener, Walter Reeves.

“We are very excited to welcome Boyce Thompson to the Fall Atlanta Home Show and Outdoor Living Expo for the first time,” said Michael Schoppenhorst, president of SEMCO and director of the Atlanta Home Show.  “He travels the country learning about the newest and most revolutionary home products, and he will bring his top 10 choices to our Show.  We’ll also have hundreds of exhibitors showcasing numerous ways for people to seamlessly integrate their indoor and outdoor living spaces.  Here in Atlanta, we are blessed with the perfect climate for outdoor living, so our attendees will see a number of great ideas for porches, decks, outdoor kitchens, patios and gardens.  For inside the home, our exhibitors will offer the most updated ideas for kitchens, baths, media rooms, living spaces, storage areas, and so much more.  Each day of the Show, expert speakers will present programs on the Reliable Heating & Air Home Show Stage, and many exhibitors will offer special Show-only discounts to attendees.”

One of the show’s most popular exhibits and gathering spaces will be the Red Hare Backyard Beer Garden designed by Georgia Landscape, where adults age 21 and older can bid on silent auction items and sample craft brews, along with wines provided by Trader Joe’s.  The $5 tasting fee and silent auction purchases support Hope Atlanta, the programs of Travelers Aid.  The Show also includes live radio broadcasts, including The Lawn & Garden Show with Walter Reeves Saturday morning, Sept. 10, on News 95.5 FM and AM750 WSB, product demonstrations and a grand prize.  On Friday, Sept. 9, members of Atlanta’s housing industry (Realtors, contractors, interior designers, landscapers, etc.) will be admitted for free with business card at the show entrance, courtesy of PMC Building Materials now with two locations: Marietta and Lawrenceville.
