Director of Finance Rob Turner may not be a recognizable face to clients on the show floor, but he leads a department that is an integral part of the organization.

Over his 17 years with the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority, Turner says he has seen a lot of change in the industry and enjoys the variety of projects with which he has been able to participate. But the best part of his job, he says, is his co-workers.

“Everything comes back to the people here,” he said. “It’s been a great place to work, it’s an interesting business with the diversity of events that we host, and we have great leadership. There’s a lot of variety in the day to day.”

Turner oversees a team that is responsible for day-to-day financial transactions; monthly, quarterly and annual reporting; budgeting; forecasting; accounts payable and receivable; internet technology; contract compliance; and much more for Cobb Galleria Centre, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, ArtsBridge Foundation and Galleria Specialty Shops.

Also, for the 25th consecutive year, the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

Over the past year, in addition to adapting to new financial software, his team has worked with other departments to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by identifying cost savings, pursuing government relief opportunities, and assisting with rescheduling events.

Prior to joining the Authority, Turner worked for InterContinental Hotels Group. He began his career in public accounting. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kennesaw State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Turner resides in Marietta with his wife, Carissa, and their two dogs.
