Held on the eve of the Super Bowl LIII at Cobb Galleria Centre, Party with a Purpose hosted its 28th annual event, Taste of the NFL, on Feb. 2. This premier charity event sanctioned by the NFL organization connects chefs, players and fans to help raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States.

Culinary Director and Executive Chef Nicholas Walker was invited to participate as one of the chefs! Chef Walker served sample plates of his roasted pork shoulder with sweet potato molasses BBQ and spiced crisped corn – featuring Heritage Pork from Comfort Farms in Chef Walker’s hometown of Milledgeville.

“It was amazing to see all the chefs from all over the country representing their food and cities to fight for a great cause,” Chef Walker said. Decoration for his booth included purple overhead lights and classic southern details to give the feeling of being at a hometown Barbecue.

Along with the opportunity to taste several delicious dishes, the event featured a silent auction. Guests could bid on everything from signed NFL helmets and jerseys to paintings from artist Justyn Farano, as well as buying items from merchandise tables and getting them signed by guest NFL players.

This event combating hunger in host cities successfully raised one million meals and all net proceeds go to Atlanta Community Food Bank. The event wrapped with a live performance from Martina McBride.

“Taste of the NFL, The Party with a Purpose, was a great opportunity to come together through food on a national and local level to support and foster giving to food banks and help fight hunger,” Chef Walker said.
