In a a high-tech world filled with impersonal communication, Director of Sales and Marketing Walter Kiley still believes in the value of relationship-building.

“This business is a simple business. It’s about creating long lasting relationships with customers,” Kiley said.

Kiley has led the 10-person sales and marketing team at the Cobb Galleria Centre since 1997 and at the Cobb Energy Centre since it opened in 2007. He brings an additional 23 years of hotel management experience in Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, for prominent brands such as Renaissance, Stouffer, Westin, Hyatt, Princess and the Omni. He has worked in operations as well as sales.

This extensive experience taught Kiley the secret sauce of venue sales – yield management. Kiley, his sales team and key operations staff meet each day for Business Review. That has led to more efficiencies in operations as well as reducing the wear and tear on employees and the buildings. But most importantly, it results in a better experience for the customer.

While a sales strategy is integral, even more important is the quality of the product, Kiley says. “We have an accessible location, beautiful, well-maintained facilities, and customer-oriented staff. When clients come to our facilities, they know they’ll get a consistently great experience for their attendees each and every time.”
